Avatar Trailer!

Directed by James Cameron Avatar is one of the most highly anticipated film of this year. Filmed in 3-D it is the story of Jake Scully (Sam Worthington), a paralyzed former marine. He volunteers in the Avatar program to explore the planet Pandora. Because Pandora’s air is not able to be breathed by humans the government has created avatars, grown replicas of the planet’s inhabitants the Na’vi. Scully is linked mind to mind with an avatar and becomes close to the Na’vi, but when the humans seek to control valuable resources on Pandora, they grow angry and Scully is caught in the middle. Avatar is set to be released December 18, 2009.

A preview of Avatar was shown at comic con and reportedly blew everyone who saw it away. The 3-D and CGI on this film is supposed to be the best you’ve ever seen, and in fact they’ve even offered to let viewers see it early. James Cameron is releasing a free 10 min preview of Avatar in movie theaters across the US this Friday Aug 21, 2009. To see if tickets are available in your area check here. I personally have signed up and am beyond excited to see what this movie has to offer. I’ll report back as soon as I can! =D

Australian Invasion

The newest up and comers in Hollywood all seem to be imports from Australia, not that I’m complaining accents = hot! You might of heard of these actors already, either from me, or because these 3 people are set to be the next break out stars.

Chris Hemsworth: This actor managed to make himself stand out in his whole 13 minutes of screen time playing Kirk’s father in the newest Star Trek film. Since then he has also been cast in the newest super hero based film, Thor, and Joss Whedon’s newest thriller A Cabin in the Woods. He’s hardly hard on the eyes and if he keeps scoring movies the way he has been we should see a lot more from him.

Isabel Lucas: Lucas actually used to date Chris Hemsworth and was relatively unknown until her role as the hot decepticon from this summer’s blockbuster Transformers 2. Now that Lucas is firmly cemented herself into the fantasies all the male viewers, she has skyrocketed into public awareness. Lucas has been cast in both the vampire thriller, Daybreakers, and the remake of the 1984 film Red Dawn. The new Megan Fox perhaps?

Sam Worthington: And finally a man I have mentioned several times before. Most known for practically stealing Terminator Salvation away from Christian Bale, Sam Worthington has taken over Hollywood being cast in possibly the two biggest movies of next year; the SciFi colossus Avatar and the remake of Clash of the Titans.

No matter where I go or what I do, these names keep popping up over and over. Be on the look out, these guys are the next big thing.

Okay this looks freaking amazing. Legion is a christian themed fantasy film about the end of the world. After god loses faith in humanity the archangel, Micheal, is the only one who can save us from an apocalypse. He becomes the leader of a group of strangers after they discover that one woman is pregnant with Christ in his second coming and must protect her at all costs.

Okay on a personal note. I am not a big fan of the whole Christian, God, Christ, apocalypse storyline, but if it’s done right, as I think this movie is, then I really can enjoy it. Add to that the fact that Micheal is played by one of my all time favorite actors Paul Bettany (Wimbledon, A Knight’s Tale) and I’m really looking forward to this. Besides Bettany this movie has the most hodgepodge group of actors Dennis Quiad, Tyrese Gibson (2 Fast 2 Furious), Kevin Durand (Lost), Kate Walsh (Private Practice), Lucas Black (F&F Tokyo Drift), Adrianne Palicki (Friday Night Lights), and Willa Holland (Gossip Girl) and is set to be released January 22, 2010.

What did you guys think? Did that beginning not freak you the eff out!

About the same as the first trailer, but with a little more dialogue. I’m even more excited now!

What do you guys think?

From Peter Jackson comes the film adaptation of the New York best selling book The Lovely Bones written by Alice Sebold. Set to be released December 11, 2009 the film features Mark Whalberg (The Italian Job), Rachel Weisz (The Mummy), and Susan Sarandon (Stepmom), and follows the story of a young girl who, after being raped and murdered, follows the lives of her family and friends from Heaven and wishes to see her crime solved.

I haven’t read the book in years so I can’t tell you if this trailer looks like a good adaptation, but I hoping those of you who know more about it will tell me. I am curious how graphic her murder scene is going to be because I do remember being highly disturbed when I was reading it.

What do you guys think?

NOTE: This is another trailer that’s going to be taken down by YouTube every 5 seconds, I apologize in advance.

I’m not even going to tell you about it, just watch the trailer in disbelief…

Yes this was an actual film released in 2003 and only in theaters for half a second before being trashed by critics and movie goers alike. Yes that is Matthew McConaughey (Failure to Launch), Kate Beckinsale (Underworld), and freaking Gary Oldman (Dark Knight, Harry Potter)! I have no idea what these actors were thinking, especially you Gary Oldman, pretending to be a midget really?

Just a really horrible jem I thought I’d share. Cause remember guys, “It’s only the size of your heart that counts.”

Okay ladies, Johnny Depp+ Chocoate. Need I say more? Chocolat is the story of Vianne Rocher, a mysterious women who arrives unexpectedly in a small traditional french town and opens a Chocolatarie, much to the chagrin of her new neighbors. Not only is she a single mother but, gasp, she does not even attend church. Slowly but surley however, the neighbors begin to warm to Vianne and she not only helps break the town of it’s stifling traditions but also finds happiness for herself. Based off the novel of the same name written by Joanne Harris and released in 2001, the movie stars Juliette Binoche, Dame Judi Dench, and of course Johnny Depp. This movie is not the typical chick flick and the romance between Depp and Rocher is more an added bonus to a beautifully told story about being true to yourself and living life to the fullest. I highly highly recommend it.

This is another show that I have been meaning to post about for awhile now and with the news that In Plain Sight is being renewed for a third season on USA next summer, I thought now was a good of time as any. In Plain Sight is the story of Mary Shannon (Mary McCormack) and her partner Marshall Mann (Fred Weller), two deputies in the Federal Witness Protection Program. Each episode deals with a new witness that Mary and Marshall must not only protect from those who want them dead, but also council them in dealing with a new name, job, town, and life.

I wouldn’t say this is the best show ever, and if it were on during the regular fall season I’m not sure I’d watch it at all. But it’s on during the Summer, a time where I barely have anything to watch. Plus the fact that it’s on Sundays, USA at 10/9c, is the perfect time for me to watch before bed. I’d say that my biggest critique of this show is that it concentrates too much on Mary’s family. I feel that any storyline involving her boyfriend, her mother, or her sister is generally week and very boring. None of those characters are particularly original or endearing and I don’t really care about them. However, I do enjoy the storylines concerning the witnesses and the relationship between Mary and Marshall, so it generally evens out. Not the best show ever, but during the slow summer season it is definitely something worth checking out.

This precious Pixar short played before UP. I love that Pixar is bringing back the tradition of playing short videos or cartoons before the main feature. I remember when I was really little and they still played loony toons before a lot of the kids movies. As usual Pixar never disappoints. Enjoy!
